As of March 1, 2026, stricter regulations will apply to financial activities in Sweden.

Conducting financial activities that require a license or registration without the proper authorization can now result in criminal liability—not just administrative measures from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority. If the activities involve, for example, receiving money on behalf of others, holding funds between different parties, distributing payments, or initiating and executing disbursements, they may be subject to regulations requiring a license.

Anyone who engages in such activities without the required permit or registration may be sentenced to a fine or imprisonment for up to two years. In cases of a serious intentional offense, the maximum penalty is six years’ imprisonment.

For companies that handle payments, customer funds, allocations, or disbursements, this means that the regulatory framework must be in place before the payment flow goes live. Ping has the necessary licenses to handle and process payments.

As a Ping customer, the regulated portion of the payment flow is handled within our licensed infrastructure. At the same time, you gain access to a modern platform where payments, distribution, and disbursements can be automated—securely, easily, and with minimal manual effort.
